According to the information, the job positions generated by contractors constitute 70.6% of total employment in the ninth month of the year, that is, 9.6% more compared to what was declared in the same month of 2023.
“The employment generated by the companies (mining companies) represented 29.4% of total employment in the mining subsector, which meant an interannual increase of 0.2%,” the document reads.
According to the distribution of mining employment at the departmental level, in September 2024, Arequipa maintained its leading position with 34,530 workers representing 14.1% of the total participation, of which 32,345 were men and 2,185 women.
For its part, La Libertad ranked second with a total of 22,446 workers, which is equivalent to 9.2% of the total; while, in third place was Áncash with 22,161 workers, reflecting 9.1% of the total jobs generated nationwide.
The companies that stood out the most in these three departments were: Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA, Compañía Minera Poderosa SA and Compañía Minera Antamina SA, respectively.
