BNDES signs contract with Development Bank of Latin America

Credit approval for the Northeast Region by BNDES grows 196%

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) signed, this Tuesday, (19) during the G20 Leaders Summit, the first contract with the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF) to open a credit line credit from CAF to BNDES in the amount of R$2.7 billion. The action aims to finance strategic projects in Brazil, promoting sustainable reindustrialization, the green economy, financial inclusion and the issuance of thematic bonds. The resources will be allocated to four priority areas. Financing for powershoring will support new or renovated energy-intensive industrial plants, encouraging the production of green manufactured goods such as steel, cellulose, cement and chemicals, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and environmental improvements.

In addition, Green Hydrogen (H2V) production projects, a clean and sustainable energy source, will be supported. It is also planned to improve the infrastructure necessary to attract new sustainable industrial plants, including investments in transmission lines, gas pipelines, railways and highways.

Another area of ​​emphasis is the green portfolio, aimed at projects that promote the green and social economy, covering sectors such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, forests, sustainable agriculture, infrastructure, sanitation, education and urban development. The credit line will also include resources intended for initiatives that increase the productivity of micro, small and medium-sized companies.
