Mayor of Colchane valued the meeting with the future Minister Siches: "It is an instance that we wait for a long time"

The mayor of Colchane, Javier García, positively valued the meeting that the future Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, held during this day with the regional authorities of the north, both governors and mayors, where they sought to develop a strategy in the context of the migratory crisis that affects this area.

“It is an instance that we wait for a long time, it is a sign that this future Government will work in a coordinated manner not only with the Regional Governments, but also with the local governments”, said García.

In addition, he added that one of the strategies would be a pass for Chileans to cross into Bolivia to stock up, which had previously been cut short by the closure of borders and military intervention.

“We have contributed to this program that the Government is preparing to confront this migratory phenomenon, which is respect for the rights of native peoples, the implementation of a neighborhood transit card for our residents of Colchane and Pisiga Bolivar, and thus respect the ancestral rights enshrined in Convention 169”, pointed out the mayor.

Regarding the possible extension of the state of exception, this day Siches indicated that “the measures of the future are made with the local authorities,” he said, showing the willingness to take them into account.
