The president of the National Assembly, deputy Jorge Rodríguez, announced that a Special Commission will be created to proceed to legislate on social networks, and the impact they produce.
He made this statement during the ordinary session of parliament held this Tuesday, regarding the serious situations that have arisen with adolescents who have been victims of the so-called “viral challenges.”
“Here we have warned of the dangers that loom over humanity as a whole in the form of social networks, they are designed to serve the dark interests of their owners. I think it is time for us to accompany the initiative that the President (Maduro) expressed yesterday and form a Special Commission, made up of members of the permanent commissions of Family, Education, Health, Science and Technology, and Internal Policy, so that legislation can be initiated from this Assembly on social networks and the impact they have on our population and especially on our girls and boys,” Rodríguez emphasized.
Rodríguez said that in the next few hours the plenary session will know the composition of the Special Commission “so that it peremptorily presents a report to the National Assembly.”
It is worth remembering that last Monday, the President spoke about the situation that has arisen in educational institutions, and blamed social networks for the deaths of young people, especially TikTokfor which it gave a period of 72 hours to eliminate the so-called “viral campaigns.”
