Cusco: they investigate alleged subdivision and sale of land in Sacsayhuamán

The Decentralized Directorate of Culture of Cusco ordered that the headquarters of the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuamán initiate actions to control alleged acts of subdivision and sale of land in intangible areas of the aforementioned park, illegal acts in which two owners of land in Sacsayhuamán would be involved.

According to the complaints received, the subdivision and sale of land would be carried out in the Muyu Orqo sector and in the upper part of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, intangible sectors due to their status as archaeological heritage.

The director of the cultural entity, anthropologist Magda Mateos, recalled that she is The subdivision and sale of land within the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuamán is strictly prohibited, as well as clandestine constructions.

“We are not going to allow the Nation’s cultural heritage to be affected, we are acting in a timely manner and we are going to prevent any attack against cultural heritage. If necessary, we will demolish the precarious constructions that would be being built in the indicated sectors” he asserted.

Likewise, the authorities indicated that they will appeal to other state entities such as the Superintendence of Public Registries to avoid the legalization of the presumed actions of purchase and sale of land in the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuamán and will denounce those who are responsible for said acts.
