During a visit to the Julia Santana Hospital in Tamayo, the director of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama, started the reconstruction work of the center, which includes a modern emergency room with a total investment of RD$67,770,659, for the benefit of more than nine thousand inhabitants of this municipality and nearby areas.
The modern emergency room will have a triage, suture, resuscitation area, four nebulization stations, three observation cubicles and a nursing station, with an investment in infrastructure and equipment of $28,197,057.31.
While the investment for the renovation of the hospital, in the infrastructure part, amounts to RD$24,668,204.77 and in equipment to RD$14,905,397.39, for a total amount of RD$39,573,602.16.
Dr. Mario Lama indicated that the new infrastructure of the hospital will allow to offer care and services in more dignified spaces to the citizens, without the need to move to other demarcations.

The so-called “Hospital Route” developed by Dr. Mario Lama in the southern region, began on Thursday with the supervision of the sessions on dentistry and prevention of Breast and Prostate Cancer, which took place from Wednesday to Friday in the municipality of Tamayo, province Bahoruco. In the dental operation, different procedures were performed, including prophylaxis, placement of prostheses, extractions, dental operations and root canal treatment.
Also, in the “Check yourself” day, more than 600 people had access to mammograms, sonograms and prostate exams, at no cost.
The tour of the head of the SNS also included visits to the Los Ríos and Jaragua municipalities, in the Bahoruco province.
