“At any point did you know the name of the person known as ‘Che’?” was what one of the authorities asked in the middle of the session.
To which the collaborator responded that he did know and that his name was “Guillermo Bermejo.”
According to sources of Peru21the informer is a former member of Sendero Luminoso who took the congressman to the subversive camps of the terrorist group in Vraem.
Bermejo’s job as a member of the Bolivarian Continental Coordinator was to merge the Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement, the Shining Path and all the organizations that had taken up arms.
This case is being heard in the Third Temporary Superior Criminal Court of the National Superior Court. In January 2022, the Second Transitory Criminal Chamber acquitted Bermejo. However, the Supreme Court annulled the ruling and ordered that he be tried again.
“The contested ruling did not comply with the provisions of this Supreme Court, since there is no comprehensive evaluation of the statements of the effective collaborators and the witness Satalaya Apagueño in the different stages of the process; and, in addition, errors are incurred in the valuation and appreciation,” the court determined.
