“We talk about expectations about very serious issues that we need to resolve in the world. So we discussed how to look at artificial intelligence and hunger. How artificial intelligence without public regulation can increase the issue of hunger due to the layoffs around the world of ordinary workers who will be affected by this type of technology. It is a global issue, because it will affect all countries. And how to prevent this social catastrophe”, said Petro.

According to the Colombian president, the possibility of reforming global governance was also discussed, mainly in relation to the United Nations Security Council (UN).

“There is a need to reform global governance to end the Security Council’s veto power over climate COPS, so that decisions can be made based on majority representation. This change in governance is fundamental to building a global democracy, especially to eliminate wars, to eliminate the growth of hunger”, said Petro.

When asked about the debates surrounding the war in Ukraine, the president was succinct. “What we said about the Ukraine war is basically that peace begins with a direct conversation between Russia and Ukraine, without intermediaries. They have a common history, a common culture, it is essential that they dialogue”.

Petro also said that there are ongoing conversations with representatives of African countries to strengthen cooperation ties.

“I talked to the African Union. And the relationship between Africa and South America is fundamental to boosting the economy, progress and industrial transformation. Just like the issue of hunger and the most serious problem in the world, which is the climate crisis. We are complementary regions, we have common interests and complementary problems”, highlighted the president.
