Gino Fileri, second vice president of the National Council of Commerce and Services (Consecomercio) and president of the National Chamber of Mechanical Workshops (Canatame), assured that in the first six months of 2024, the automotive sector registered a growth of 2.8%.
«We expected the second semester to be better, but we experienced a fairly pronounced drop. “We planned to grow 8% in 2024 and now we believe we can reach 5.8% in the area of workshops and services throughout the country,” said Filer.
Next November 26, Consecomercio will celebrate the 45th edition of the National Day of Commerce and Services and its 54th anniversary with the Business Marathon of Commerce and Serviceswhere key topics for the innovation and competitiveness of the sector will be discussed, such as the importance of offering good service, having spare parts and equipment that meet Covenin standards and having highly qualified personnel for customer satisfaction.
“All the chambers that will accompany us in the automotive circuit agree that the fight against informality is decisive to strengthen our sector in the country,” said Fileri.
In this sense, the president of the National Chamber of Rubber Distributors (Asocauchos), Rafael Hernández, highlighted the need to resolve the exchange rate differential so that tire marketers can offer competitive prices in the market.

“We also ask to end smuggling and the importation of tires free of tax payments due to treaties where the balance of payment favors countries that do not contribute to the growth of the nation,” added Hernández.
The first vice president of Fedecámaras, Felipe Capozzolo, will moderate the Panel “Emerging Leadership Focused on SMEs”, which will focus on the importance of incorporating new leadership into the production process. «This panel is an experience promoted by Consecomercio, with the support of the Emerging Leadership Commission of Fedecámaras. It is aimed at the entire commercial business community, in order to contribute to the formation of value chains and the construction of a productive and sustainable future in micro, small and medium-sized companies,” said Capozzolo.
The discussion will include topics inspired by the “Proposal for the development of the business sector 2025-2035”, such as policies and good practices for the inclusion of new generations in the productive process, the challenges of labor insertion of young people in Venezuela, and how affinity with technology can be a key factor for modernization and organizational change. This panel promises to be an enriching space for the exchange of ideas and experiences between the protagonists of generational change in their respective organizations.
