The Ministry of Education (Mineduc) reported that the Complementary Period of the School Admission System (SAE) 2025 began on Friday, November 15. This system allows families to apply for public or subsidized private schools through an online platform, offering an alternative for those who did not participate or were not assigned in the Main Period.
This process will be available until Friday, November 22, with a closing scheduled for 2:00 p.m. As indicated by the Mineduc, the Complementary Period is designed specifically for three situations: those who did not apply in the Main Period, those who did not obtain placement in either the Main Period or the waiting list, and those who rejected their previous allocation.
During this periodmore than 7,500 educational establishments will be available throughout the country, which still have vacancies. The Minister of Education, Nicolás Cataldo, emphasized the importance of families reviewing the schools’ educational projects and making strategic applications. To do this, it was recommended to include at least six options in order of preference, ensuring a greater probability of obtaining a place according to your interests.
The application process is simple. Families must enter the platform SAEsearch for available establishments, review their educational projects and select the desired options. Once the application is completed, it is recommended to download the receipt as a backup. It is important to consider that the system does not work on a first-come, first-served basis, so each application will be evaluated equally within the deadline.
A recommendation from Mineduc is to apply only if there is a real need for change. If a student applies and receives a new placement, they will automatically lose their current place, regardless of whether or not they decide to accept the new placement.
