During the inspection, the agents noticed that one of the rear doors had been modified and, upon opening it, They found nine “bricks” of drugsperfectly hidden and taped. Laboratory tests confirmed that the substance was cocaine, totaling 9,393 kilograms.

The police have estimated that the value of this amount of cocaine on the market could reach $90,000. This figure highlights the magnitude of the problem that drug trafficking represents in the region, as well as the serious legal and social implications it entails.

According to journalist Diego Martini, the 29-year-old man with the initials SA, until now worked in the Municipality of Paysandú, headed by Nicolás Olivera, of the National Partyand was active in the same political force. The other with the initials JO, 36 years old, was also arrested, both of whom will go to a summary trial.

The Paysandú Police Chief, in statements to Channel 10’s Subrayado, highlighted the importance of continuing with these operations to stop the advance of drug trafficking in the region. “Our work is tireless and we seek to protect our citizens from these crimes”, he assured.
