From today until Wednesday, November 20, Corabastos merchants will be able to participate in a campaign to collect food intended to support communities affected by the winter wave in the department of Chocó.
The supply center reported that among the products that can be donated are rice, wheat and corn flour, pasta, oats, lentils, beans, powdered milk, tuna, sugar, oil, coffee, salt, snacks and chocolate bars. Donations will be received at the Corabastos administration and at the Corporation’s theater.

The manager of Corabastos, Javier Salcedo, pointed out that this initiative responds to an invitation from the Government of Cundinamarca, in alliance with the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá and other unions. “We want to invite all our merchants to join this campaign from our headquarters,” he said.

At the same time, the Government of Cundinamarca launched a campaign to collect donations that includes food, hygiene kits and clothing, also aimed at the department of Chocó. According to Governor Jorge Emilio Rey, the call is directed to organizations, companies, institutions, mayors and the community in general under the motto “Chocó needs us.”
Donations in kind will be received until November 21 at the headquarters of the Government and in the mayor’s offices of the 116 municipalities of the department.
It should be noted that the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) announced a response plan to face emergencies in the department of Chocó, where more than 80% of the municipalities are affected by floods.
During the visit to the apartment of President Gustavo Petro and the director of the entity, Carlos Carrillo, an investment was confirmed of $12,000 million destined for works to reduce risk and prevent future emergencies.
The director of the Risk Management Unit, Carlos Carrillo, explained that the investment will be distributed through two Collective Investment Funds (FIC), allocating $8,000 million to the department in general and $4,000 million specifically for the municipality of Quibdó.
