The Danish Victoria Kjaer was crowned Miss Universe 2024 this Saturday in a majestic gala held at the Mexico City Arena, marking the closing of the 73rd edition of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world.
Kjaer, who conquered the jury with his charisma, intelligence and skill communicative, she won the coveted crown ‘The Light of Infinity’, a jewel bathed in 18 carat gold, adorned with diamonds and 23 golden pearls.
The Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios, Miss Universe 2023, was in charge of placing the crown on the head of his successor.
The Danish woman beat a competitive group of almost 130 candidates which, after overcoming several elimination rounds, was reduced first to 30, then to 12 and, finally, to five.
Among the last five finalists María Fernanda Beltrán, representative of Mexico, was the host country; Ileana Márquez, from Venezuela; Opal Suchata, from Thailand; and Adetshina Chidimma, from Nigeria.
The ceremony featured a special performance by singer Robin Thicke, Taboo by the Black Eyed Peas, the Chilean Nico Ruiz, among others.
Furthermore a jury made up of prominent figures such as Lele Pons, Margaret Gardiner, Michael Cinco, Camila Guribitey and Gary Naderwho evaluated aspects such as communication skills, stage presence and charisma of the finalists.
The winner not only takes the crown valued at more than 5.3 million dollars, but also a cash prize of $250,000 and a monthly salary of $50,000 during her reign as an ambassador for the organization.
The new Miss Universe, in addition to representing beauty and the talent of women, will have an active role in charitable causes and international projects, consolidating its role as a global leader.
This year’s edition also set records in participation and a renewed commitment to diversity, reflecting the values of inclusion promoted by the organization.
