About the vehicle technical inspection

The vehicle inspection in the Dominican Republic, which had been suspended for several years, is in the process of being reactivated and is expected to be formally implemented in 2025. This measure aims to improve road safety and reduce accidents caused by mechanical failures in vehicles.

The inspection program will include both private and commercial vehicles and is expected to have a major impact on road safety, helping to identify vehicles in poor condition that may pose a danger.

In addition, the project will also address the renewal of the “technical magazine”, a document that certifies the review of the state of the vehicle, which was suspended years ago and whose implementation was approved together with the law seven years ago.

Although the system is still under development, the government assures that this reform will be crucial for road safety and reducing the accident rate in the country. However, some experts point out that the poor condition of the vehicle fleet could represent a challenge to the effectiveness of the program.
