COE places 9 provinces on alert due to frontal system

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains 01 province on yellow alert and 08 on green alert due to an almost stationary frontal system located in the northern portion of the island and the northeast wind.

Therefore, he pointed out that cloudy increases will be generated during the day, accompanied by scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind over locations in the regions: northwest, north, northeast, southeast, as well as the border area and the Central Mountain Range.

The Samaná province is on yellow alert, while on green alert are: La Altagracia, Duarte (especially Bajo Yuna), El Seibo, Hermanas Mirabal, Espaillat, Puerto Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez and Hato Mayor.

Due to the high volumes of water in the provinces under alert, the COE recommended that people refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines.
