The current president of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) Guido Gómez Mazara revealed this Wednesday that the owner of the entity’s building has been receiving approximately 100 thousand dollars per month (approximately 6 million 500 thousand pesos) for 24 years.
The official understands that with that amount of money he would have already acquired his own building “a while ago.”
“I think that the owner of the INDOTEL building must have a pact with the Devil, because he is 24 years old with 100 thousand dollars in rent plus parking, something that has not been done during my administration,” he said.
Apart from this amount, the cost of parking is paid separately, reaching an additional amount of about 40 thousand dollars (approximately 2 million 402 thousand pesos).
“There was a problem with parking and previous administrations were hiring,” he stated.
Will it continue to be paid?
The official questioned whether they will continue paying this high rent or if an investment alternative in their own infrastructure will be analyzed.
Gómez Mazara commented that, in a telephone company transaction carried out four years ago, a fund was reserved for the development of infrastructure for INDOTEL.
This fund could be used to finance a new building, instead of continuing to allocate the budget to rent.
In an area near the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, there is currently an empty piece of land that, according to the official, is owned by the INDOTEL.
These statements were offered on the El Sol de la Mañana program.
