The elected president of the United States, donald trumpannounced on Friday that his campaign spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, 27 years old, will be his press secretary at the White House.
Leavitt “is smart, tough and has proven to be a very effective communicator. I have the utmost confidence that she will excel at the lectern and help deliver our message to the American people,” Trump said in a statement.
Leavitt will be one of the youngest people to have held that key position, which is the face and voice of the White House and faces questions from the media.
She was press secretary for trump during her campaign, and in July she gave birth to her first child, she said on a Fox News podcast.
In 2022, she ran unsuccessfully for the House of Representatives in New Hampshire after working as Trump’s deputy press secretary during his first term.
He also directed communications for Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, whom Trump appointed as ambassador to the UN.
