Amaprosado requested the Minister of Agriculture to take into account the wholesale trade when granting import permits
The Association of Wholesalers in Supplies of Santo Domingo (Amaprosado) called on the Ministry of Agriculture to take the necessary measures to lower the prices of garlic, onion and potatoes, so that they reach families cheaper.
Andres Cosmapresident of Amaprosado, asked the Minister of Agriculture to take the wholesale trade into account when granting import permits for these three products, considering that, through this sector, represented by the institution he presides, it can be achieved that the garlic, onion and potato reach fair and stable prices to the Dominican.
“There is a disproportionate increase in garlic that can be avoided if those import permits are channeled through wholesale trade, which are greatly needed in the trade to provide stability in these products.“, said.
He emphasized that assigning some permits, which first take into account wholesale merchants, because through this trade prices can remain stable and downward.
Cosma argued that in the case of garlic there has been a considerable increase, since after having prices that ranged between 90 and 100 pesos per pound, there is now an increase of almost 100%, hovering around 200 and 230 pesos. the pound of that product.
