The IT field in Chile has grown significantly, offering various job opportunities in areas such as cybersecurity, systems administration, and data architecture. One of the most prominent positions is that of Cybersecurity Consultant, the demand for which has increased due to the growing importance of data and system protection.
Salaries in Cybersecurity: a rising panorama
According to the recent IT Market Study 2024-2025, prepared with data from more than 30,000 workers, salaries in the technology sector have experienced a considerable increase after the pandemic, with an approximate increase of 20%. This report, published by LUN and developed in collaboration with Chumi-IT, details the salary ranges of different positions within the IT sector.
In the case of Cybersecurity Consultants, net salaries are distributed as follows:
- Minimum salary: $2,180,000
- Median: $2,970,000
- Maximum salary: $4,060,000
These ranges reflect a trend of improvement in remunerations, although at a more moderate pace compared to previous years.
Comparison to other cybersecurity positions
The study also includes other cybersecurity roles with varying salaries, such as Cybersecurity Architect, which earns between $2,970,000 and $5,010,000, and Ethical Hacker, with salaries ranging between $1,580,000 and $4,720,000. These figures highlight the wide diversity of opportunities and compensation levels in this area.
Salaries may vary depending on experience, geographic location and type of company. An interesting fact from the study is that startups and newer companies tend to offer higher salaries than traditional companies due to their focus on advanced technologies and work flexibility. In addition, the possibility of working remotely for foreign companies has expanded opportunities and increased competitiveness in the Chilean labor market.
Teleworking has transformed the work landscape. According to Marco Muñoz, general manager of IT-Talent, “the physical limitation is no longer relevant.” This means that many IT professionals in Chile now have the option to work for international companies without leaving the country, thus increasing their income and career prospects.
With growing digitalization and the need to protect sensitive data, the demand for Cybersecurity Consultants is expected to continue to increase. This, combined with the possibility of teleworking and business modernization, positions this role as one of the most promising in the IT sector for the coming year.
