UCV students throw tear gas during elections

Some 25,000 students are called to elect their representatives in the different student centers and the Federation of University Centers (FCU). In the process there are two plates that confront each other. Save the U and All for the U.


In the afternoon of this November 15, two tear gas bombs were launched at the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), in Caracas. The incident was reported in the middle of the student elections that until then were taking place normally.

Luis Mena, member of the electoral commission, described the electoral process as positive. He commented on the fact that this was controlled and that the voting ceremony continues in the faculty.

He president of the FCU, Jesús Mendoza, invited the UCV students to what he called a date with the university, with the democratic one. “We are going to carry out a democratic exercise and we are going to highlight the democratic and plural value of the university by having this process,” said Jesús Mendoza in an interview with Unión Radio.

The Electoral Commission of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) reported on the night of Thursday, November 14, that all the electoral material for the student elections to be held this Friday the 15th was delivered.

The rector of the UCV, Víctor Rago, denied this Friday that there is any reason for the scheduled student elections to be suspended and highlighted in an interview for Venevisión that they must be held so that the alternation is respected.
