Ñáñez: Southern Summit seeks to contrast Western narrative

The Minister of Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, said that the I Summit of Media and Experts of the Global South He addressed strategies “to contrast the narrative that the West has towards our continent.”

This was stated in a post on your Telegram accountin which he spoke about his experience at the summit held in São Paulo, Brazil.

In this sense, he indicated that Artificial Intelligence is being developed in very few countries, so one of the objectives is to “overcome that gap”, for which “China is willing to share its knowledge.”

“Technological literacy is necessary for the citizen to be an active and critical subject, to be the protagonist and not reduced to a number,” said Ñáñez.

He pointed out that Artificial Intelligence is one of the technologies that is going to change the world, “it is even an ethical change. The human being is going to find an intelligence that can “exceed” his own. Now the human being becomes a digit.”

Also, he indicated that to overcome language and cultural barriers, creating “a collaborative system between the media of the Global South to build a new truthful communication platform” is being evaluated as a strategy.

In this regard, it is worth mentioning that during his participation in the I Summit of Media and Experts of the Global South, Ñáñez held a meeting with the director of the Russian news agency Tass, Mikhail Solomonovichin which they addressed the progress in the Russia-Venezuela bilateral relationship.

The I Summit of Media and Experts of the Global South was convened by the Xinhua News Agency, of the People’s Republic of China, as a leader in communication technologies in the world.
