Juliana Barrientos: “Carrying the flag of my country and showing our culture and essence to the world is an honor that I cannot describe”

Juliana Barrientos is the young 25-year-old biochemist who has come to fulfill her dream by reaching Miss Universe representing Bolivia.

The Cochabamba native shares from Mexico what this trip means to her, not only as a contestant in a beauty pageant, but also as an ambassador of her culture and values.

The beauty queen who stood out in the contest talks about her preparation, the lessons learned and the social causes that inspire her, as well as her innovative project for women’s safety.

What does it mean to you to represent your country in Miss Universe?

Representing Bolivia in Miss Universe is a dream come true and one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had. Carrying the flag of my country and showing our culture and essence to the world is an honor that I cannot describe in words. It is carrying in my heart the love, strength and history of each Bolivian, and knowing that every step I take is for all those who, in some way, accompany me from home.

How did you prepare for this competition?

This preparation has been a true transformation. I have worked mainly with my agency, Promociones Gloria, and I have also taken some courses in Mexico and the United States. I have worked on my expression, on my physique and also on my spirit, but the most valuable thing has been strengthening my confidence and self-love.

What is the most important message you are conveying to the world from the Miss Universe stage?

I want to remind the world that our differences are what make us unique and that we can find special strength in our authenticity. Each one of us has a story that deserves to be told and it is our duty to become an example of kindness and respect towards others. My message is that we can all make a positive change simply by being true to who we are.

What time do you get up and how do you stay impeccable all day?

I get up early, around 5:30 or 6 in the morning, to start the day calmly and gratefully. Having a morning routine helps me, but what really keeps me happy is feeling good internally. I try to enjoy every moment, take care of my body and mind, and, above all, maintain a positive attitude. I believe that true beauty and energy come from within, from feeling at peace.

The foreign press loves you, how did you manage to win the affection of journalists?

Honestly, I just try to be myself and listen to others respectfully. I think journalists appreciate when you are authentic, when you don’t pretend. I always try to share a little of my history and my culture with sincerity, because I believe that the affection and empathy that one gives always comes back.

What is the most important lesson you have learned from other competitors?

I have learned to see the beauty in every story and every culture. Each of us has a unique path, full of challenges and dreams, and that unites us. The most valuable thing about this experience has been learning to see greatness in others, to recognize that we all have something special to contribute. Sorority is a value of greatness.

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is something so deep. It’s not just what we see, but what we feel when being close to someone. It’s the way we treat others, the kindness we radiate, the authenticity with which we live. True beauty, for me, is that inner peace that is reflected outwardly, in every word and every gesture.

How do you stay motivated and focused during an intense competition like this?

I have a support team that is constantly with me, day to day, by phone. It is important to have trustworthy people who help you grow.

I have my family, my agency Promociones Gloria, my boyfriend and my friends, with whom I am in contact. I think about all the people who have supported me and who believe in me. They are my strength and my daily inspiration.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced in competition?

Being away from my family has been a very difficult challenge. They are my pillar, and in hard times I need their hug. However, I have also learned to feel his love from a distance, and that has taught me to be strong for myself. Each challenge has made me more resilient and more confident in what I am capable of.

Just hours before the grand finale, how are the feelings?

I feel a mix of emotions: gratitude, nerves, joy. I feel very lucky to be here and I am trying to live every second with intensity, knowing that it is a unique experience. I live it with a heart full of gratitude, knowing that the simple fact of being here is a triumph.

Are you fulfilling your dreams?

Yes, being here at Miss Universe is one of my biggest dreams, and I feel that every moment lived is a little piece of that dream fulfilled.

I am in a place that I have always dreamed of and that I love, and that gives me immense satisfaction and joy. I am experiencing something wonderful, and that makes me feel fulfilled.

What advice would you give to a young woman who dreams of one day competing in Miss Universe?

I would tell her to never stop believing in herself, even on the hard days. That every step, every effort, every fall and every victory are part of the path to your dreams.

Always remember your essence, maintain your values ​​and never forget where you come from, because that is what will make you unique.
