Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived this Thursday, November 14, in Lima, where he will participate in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC 2024). This is the third time that the president visits our country.
During his meeting with President Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace, he thanked Peru for the cordial treatment. In addition, he remotely inaugurated the Chancay Megaport, financed by Beijing.
In his speech, he noted that he will work to promote connectivity between China and South America: “We must work together to build, manage and operate the port of Chancay well (…) making important contributions to promoting connectivity between the South American region and China “.
At another time, he highlighted the joint work with Peru. “This is another successful project of China-Peruvian cooperation and Belt Road cooperation, and China is willing to work with the Peruvian side to take this port as a starting point and forge a new land-sea corridor between China and Peru. Latin America and connecting the great Inca trail and the maritime silk route in the 21st century, thus opening a route of happiness marked by common prosperity for Peru and the other countries of Latin America,” he stated.
As part of his agenda, Xi Jinping will also meet with his US counterpart, Joe Biden.
