The director of government strategy and communication and spokesman for the presidency, Homer Figueroa, stated that the position of President Luis Abinader in the face of the conflict in Russia and Ukraine could not be neutral and that it is very clear.
Figueroa said that the country is a signatory of all the international agreements enshrined in the United Nations Organization (UN) and that is why the president did not present a neutral position.

“When these principles are attacked, affecting coexistence between countries, obviously there is no neutrality, before the principles there can be no neutrality”, he expressed when being interviewed on the Rumbo de la Mañana program that is broadcast on 98.5 by RRCC Media.
He also explained that, for example, the principle of non-intervention in the internal affairs of another nation is inviolable according to the international order that governs us, emphasizing that the Dominican Republic is respectful of said measure.
He, also the communicator, maintained that the country vigorously respects “the non-use of force or threats”, which is another fundamental principle that the Dominican State considers untouchable.
