Ukraine asked the IMF for emergency financial help

Ukraine has requested emergency financial aid from the International Monetary Fund, the institution’s CEO Kristalina Georgieva said in a statement on Friday, at the end of a meeting with the board of directors.

“We are exploring all options for additional financial support,” including through the $2.2 billion aid program due to be implemented by June, and “the authorities have also requested emergency financing from the IMF,” he said.
