The strike of transporters nationwide, which began last Wednesday, November 13 in Lima, found echo in several regions of the country, where they demonstrated against contract killings in public transportation, the payment of quotas and citizen insecurity.

Thus, in Cusco, the social leaders agreed to abide by the measure only on November 13, organizing a 24-hour strike, which lasted only in the morning and part of the afternoon of that day.

From early hours, hundreds of protesters picketed the main access and exit routes of the Imperial City, preventing the circulation of buses, however the presence of buses and ‘pirate’ units was a constant.

By midday, most of the pickets had already broken up, with Cusco residents and tourists moving about normally. It should be noted that the Tourism Police launched the so-called ‘Safe corridor’, to transport nationals and foreigners from the Alejandro Velasco airport to the city center.
