The president Dina Boluarte was present at the Second Forum on Sustainable Future organized within the framework of APEC 2024, where he stated that his government promotes an agenda aimed at achieving sustainable growth that promotes resilient development.
Boluarte said that significant steps have been taken to integrate sustainability into growth strategies, mainly in the transition to clean energy and the improvement of food security.
“We have led the guidelines for the development and implementation of clean, low-carbon hydrogen roadmaps. This represents an opportunity to diversify our energy sources, and also a recognition of the economic and social diversity of our economies,” he noted.
Likewise, he recalled that at the forum in the city of Trujllo, La Libertad region, the principles to reduce food loss and waste were promoted.
“This instrument, significant for food security, represents a firm commitment by APEC economies to move towards more sustainable agri-food systems. By adopting these principles we seek to improve food security and, at the same time, address the environmental, economic and social challenges we face,” he noted.
CITIZEN EMPOWERMENT
The president reaffirmed her commitment to promoting, during APEC Economic Leaders Week, policies that empower citizens, integrate them into the benefits of growth and allow them to prosper in a sustainable regional economy.
“By working collaboratively within APEC, we not only contribute to the development of Peru, but we also strengthen the shared vision of a more resilient, inclusive Asia Pacific bloc committed to sustainability,” he said at the Second Forum on Sustainable Future organized within the framework of APEC 2024.
In this sense, he pointed out that the APEC 2024 Forum seeks to raise living standards throughout the region, protect the environment and ensure that all citizens, especially those in vulnerable situations, can be active participants and beneficiaries of collective progress.
“As we look to the future, we renew our commitment to APEC’s vision towards an open, dynamic, resilient and peaceful Asia-Pacific community,” the President stressed.
