A commission of the National Assembly (AN), made up of deputies Luis Eduardo Martínez, José Villarroel and Imarú Bolívar, this Wednesday led a meeting with the political parties of Yaracuy to consult the proposals that will be incorporated in the reforms that will be applied to the electoral laws.
The meeting was held at the San Felipe “Henrique Tirado Reyes” convention center, where representatives of the different political organizations that operate in the entity, both the Great Patriotic Pole and opposition factors, debated various ideas.
Assemblyman Martínez, who is the vice president of the commission for dialogue on electoral reforms, indicated that the consultation process is almost concluded throughout the country, in order to soon pass the proposals collected to the plenary session in the coming days.
He commented that until this Wednesday the commission has received 118 proposals, of which, subsequently, the most pertinent will be adapted in the reforms that will be made to the Law of Political Parties, Organic Law of the Electoral Power and Organic Law of Electoral Processes.
“A good part of what is proposed points to the review of the adjudication system to guarantee the proportional representation established by the National Constitution. There is also good enthusiasm with the possibility of incorporating gender parity, so that women have greater representation in deliberative bodies,” said the deputy.
Martínez said that there is also consensus on the part of the political organizations that participate in the consultations to block the way for those who threaten the stability of the republic. Likewise, it is evaluated sanctioning those who fail to comply with the provisions of articles 130 and 131 of the Constitution, referring to the duty of citizens to honor and defend the country and to comply with and abide by the laws.
Regarding the culmination of the debates and the sanction of the reforms, the deputy announced that the goal of the AN is to sanction the priority aspects of the reforms before December 31, to advance with the proposals that require greater maturation and deepening in 2025. They will then be submitted to an advisory referendum for final approval.
For his part, Deputy Villarroel pointed out that among the proposals analyzed, the updating of sanctions for political organizations that do not comply with the Constitution or stray from the constitutional thread stands out.
Likewise, he highlighted that there are issues that are reviewed for eventual approval such as the nomination at the level of communal circuits and the restriction of the right to vote to those who reside outside the country or have incurred in actions of treason against the country or ignorance of institutions.

Meanwhile, the state coordinator of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and governor of the entity, Julio León, pointed out that all the parties of the Great Patriotic Pole and the 13 political organizations that operate in Yaracuy participated in the consultation, with the spirit to reach agreements favorable to all.
“This consultation is carried out within the framework of dialogue, to adapt our electoral legal instruments according to the expectations and demands of our people. “I celebrate these types of meetings in which all political organizations, with respect and sincere dialogue, meet to seek to guarantee the most sacred good that is peace in the country,” León stated.
