As they had announced at a meeting of the Yauli La Oroya transporters’ association this Wednesday, November 13, the transporters of the urban, interurban and interdistrict transport service units of the city with several pickets began the first day of the national strike by locating the pickets by different companies in the sectors of El Tambo, El Torito in the new La Oroya and in the Huancayo exit sector, Loyola tap, and Tarma Street in the old La Oroya.
The transporters of the new La Oroya will march along the central highway to the sector of the Tarma whereabouts, where they will join the transporters of the old La Oroya where a rally will be held in this strategic sector indicating the leaders that the strike will continue until tomorrow, Thursday, 14 November.
As is customary, these measures paralyze the passage of buses and heavy vehicles that have been stranded in La Oroya, with many passengers opting to transfer and walk several kilometers to continue their journey towards the Mantaro valley and the central jungle.
Elmer Sucasaire Tito, president of the association, indicated that the strike in the transportation sector is 100% with a total of 11 companies with approximately 500 drivers.
On the other hand, the most important supply centers such as the Tupac Amaru market in La Oroya Antigua this Wednesday have not opened their doors for the attention of buyers. On the other side of the city, the Santa Rosa de Marcavalle market is only half-serving.
