Santo Domingo. – The vice president and political coordinator of the People’s Force (FP), Radhamés Jiménez Peña, harshly criticized the current management of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), stating that the country is going through a “difficult and deplorable” situation.. According to the leader, when the PRM government ends, it will leave a legacy of “discreditation” so deep that the population will “beg for its departure” due to the impact on the cost of living and the loss of stability and hope in the country.
Jiménez Peña highlighted that citizen discontent is reflected in an “avalanche of people” who want to join the People’s Force. “We have never seen such massive interest in joining our organization,” he said.
The politician stressed that The current government has accumulated a debt of more than $40 billion, committing 25% of next year’s budget exclusively to interest payments. “This level of debt is suffocating public finances and limiting the development of priority works,” he said.
As an example of the lack of progress in infrastructure, Jiménez Peña mentioned the continuation of the Santo Domingo Metro line towards Los Alcarrizos, a work that, according to him, has been under construction for more than four years without a clear completion date. «It is a stretch of 5 or 6 kilometers that should have been completed; However, the residents of that area are still waiting for a solution that improves their transportation,” he said.
Finally, Jiménez Peña asserted that the level of popularity of President Luis Abinader is at historic lows, due to a general perception of “disenchantment” and “wear and tear” in the population. According to the leader, the results of the last elections and the alleged “buying of wills” have aggravated the situation. «There has been a brutal investment in the purchase of leaders of other parties; Never before has so much money been allocated to ensure support in this way,” concluded Jiménez Peña.
With this series of statements, the People’s Force seeks to capitalize on the disagreement with the government and project itself as a solid alternative in the face of the next elections.
