Services grow 1% from August to September

The volume of services grew 1% in September this year, compared to August. The increase came after a 0.3% drop recorded in August. Data from the Monthly Services Survey (PMS) were released this Wednesday (13) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).Services grow 1% from August to September

Services also increased 4% compared to September last year, 2.9% year-to-date and 2.3% year-to-date. The sector’s nominal revenue grew by 1.1% compared to August this year, 8.4% compared to September 2023, 7.6% year-to-date and 7.1% year-to-date.

Four of the five activities surveyed increased: professional, administrative and complementary services (1.4%); information and communication (1.0%); transport (0.7%) and services provided to families (0.4%). The activity other services was the only one with a drop (-0.3%).

The tourist activity index rose 0.5% compared to August and is now 8.1% above the level of February 2020 (pre-covid-19 pandemic) and just 0.2% below the highest point in the series (February 2014).
