The construction of the Casa de los Abuelos, located in the Casa del Obrero, Sucre parish of Caracas, continues in full progress and development, where the mayor of the entity, Carmen Meléndez, confirmed the adaptation work of this type of structure, where Older adults will soon be able to enjoy a full recreational area.
In this sense, the mayor highlighted that this work is part of the instructions issued by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, for the protection of the grandfathers and grandmothers of Caracas, under the Great Mission Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland , which was launched on May 8 and consists of four vertices of action, as part of the national policy of new generation programs to rescue the Welfare State bequeathed by Commander Hugo Chavez Frias.
1. Health and Food: Axis focused on improving the quality of life of older adults, will give renewed impetus to health and nutritional care. In this sense, the revitalization of the Smile Mission stands out, which ensures dental care for older adults. Likewise the implementation of the “Hearing More” program, focused on hearing health. Vision also receives special attention with the “See Miracle” initiative, which provides lenses and cataract treatments. In addition, access to essential medicines is guaranteed and a specialized CLAP is introduced, which promotes a healthy diet adapted to the needs of the elderly.
2. Comprehensive Protection: The social protection of older adults is strengthened with the introduction of the “ZRC Program”, which offers shoes, clothing and mattresses to those who need them most. This program not only seeks to cover basic needs, but also promote dignity and well-being, to ensure that older adults live with the comfort and respect they deserve.
3. Organization: Likewise, community organization is reinforced with the creation of grandparents’ circles, which will serve as support and meeting platforms for older adults. These circles are the heart of active participation in the Great Mission, with the objective of establishing thousands of them throughout the country, and with this organizational effort, it is expected that the National Congress of Grandmothers and Grandfathers will be held on May 29 of the Homeland, a milestone in this process of organization and empowerment.
4. Grandfathers and Grandmothers House: Finally, the social infrastructure is expanded with the projection of installing 335 grandparents’ houses, spaces dedicated to the meeting, recreation and assistance of older adults. These houses will be points of reference in each municipality, where senior citizens can receive support and services adapted to their needs, thus promoting their integration and participation in the community.
