Edinson Guía, author of the crime, would have told his superiors a version that presented inconsistencies, for which he was arrested
Cicpc-El Llanito agents arrested Edinson Guía, a police officer from the Sucre municipality (Miranda), accused of murdering Jexon David Vásquez (27) with a firearm, an event that occurred last Monday night in the Maca neighborhood, Petare.
Initial versions indicate that the Polisucre official was with his partner in the aforementioned Petareño neighborhood. Jexon, who in the past had had a romantic relationship with the police officer’s partner, also arrived at the scene.
An argument broke out between the three in the middle of which the police officer pulled out a firearm and shot Jexon, causing his death at the scene. The uniformed man fled on a motorcycle with the woman.
Anticipating what was coming, the police officer told his superiors a version of what happened, but claiming that he had to act that way because he was the victim of an attack by Jexon.
When questioned once again, the police officer presented inconsistencies in his story. Due to this, the Polisucre police chiefs informed the Cicpc-El Llanito, whose agents detained Guía and his partner.
Polisucre issued a statement describing the incident as “a tragic incident” and recognized that a member of that institution participated in it. “The Municipal Police of Sucre reaffirms its unwavering commitment to legality, ethics and good customs that must prevail in the exercise of our functions and even outside the institution,” the statement said.
The citizen security body states in the letter that it will not tolerate any deviation “nor will we hide the truth by virtue of guaranteeing transparency in the investigations.”
They promise to separate from their ranks those who deviate from such principles.
