Colonel PNP Harvey Colchado Today he requested precautionary measures from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) so that, in retaliation for the raid on President Dina Boluarte’s house, the government does not retire him.
In his letter, Colchado demands that the Peruvian State, through the Ministry of the Interior, protect his personal integrity and that of another 800 police officers “who have been suffering harassment from the Executive Branch itself.”
“That the Peruvian State, through the executive orders of the Executive Branch, refrains from issuing the extraordinary order, under whatever procedural channels, to invite the retirement or discharge for the extraordinary reasons that are being implemented to Harvey Colchado Huamaní and another 800 police officers,” reads the document accessed by Peru21.
Last Aprilthe officer was suspended from the position of head of the Diviac after leading the PNP team that intervened in Boluarte’s home, complying with a court order.
Since that time, the police officer was referred to carry out administrative tasks in his institution, and was also the subject of administrative processes to be sanctioned.
