- He said: “Potatoes are no longer imported; we only import the seed from the tuber, from Holland and Canada; we are self-sufficient in potato productionand by December we will have potatoes in the salads of all Dominican tables.
Through a press release, the minister stressed that the 2020-2024 quadrennium was transcendental for the government of President Luis Abinader, since it increased production and productivity in the main food products of the basic basket, exceeding the four-year period and the indicators of the 2016-2019 period.

“We achieved self-sufficiency in products such as rice, with a 23% increase in production; onion, with 239%; more than 40% in potato production; 102% in cassava; 23% more bananas; 25% chicken; We increased egg production by 34% and pig production by 4% more than in the last four years,” said the head of Agriculture.
He stated that all these results are the result of a agricultural policy focused on greater investment through financing; greater support for production; marketing with more profitable markets in the country and abroad.
