The Foreign Ministry of the Dominican Republic reported this Friday that it has contacted 12 of its citizens in Ukraineincluding two minors, whom he tries to evacuate by safe-conduct.
“We are working together with our diplomatic allies for their evacuation via safe conduct,” the Foreign Ministry reported on its networks.
He also assured that “it is in permanent communication with the embassies of the Dominican Republic in the Federation of Russia and in the Federal Republic of Germany, with competition in Ukraine“.
After months of tension, Russia launched this week a military operation in Ukraine that began with bombings in several urban centers and continued with the deployment of troops, so that this Friday the Russian military units are tightening the siege of the country’s capital, Kiev.
The fighting has already cost the lives of 137 Ukrainians and 316 have been injured, according to the Government of Ukraine; In addition, thousands of people have fled to the west of Ukraine or to neighboring countries such as Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
Meanwhile, NATO began this Friday the deployment of its Response Force in the eastern part of the Alliance, for the first time in the context of collective defense, with the aim of “protecting every ally and every inch of NATO territory Allied Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after a virtual summit of Alliance leaders.
The Dominican president, Luis Abinader, affirmed this Thursday that the “unilateral aggression” of Russia against Ukraine violates the basic rule of peaceful coexistence between nations and accused his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, of not respecting the political, cultural and territorial identity of the Ukrainian people.
