PJ urges calm before protests are announced

Presidente del PJ exhorta a la calma.

The president of the Judiciary, Javier Arévalo, urged calm following the announcement of protests by transporters, between the 13th, 14th and 15th, during the week of the Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEC).

“More than a statement, we call for calm, because the rulers of the main economies are coming; this does not mean that when I talk about calm it means that everything is fine; it means that we cannot give an image of a violent country in front of these people Imagine, that that day, (there is) violence, clashes; I think that should not happen, and if there were any type of complaints it should definitely be peaceful,” Arévalo said at a press conference.

At another time, Arévalo said that he is against any act of violence.

For the head of the PJ, however, the protest is a legitimate right, and shows that there are Peruvians who are “annoyed by the issue of insecurity.”

AGRPEXPORTERS GUIDE ASK FOR CALM

On the other hand, the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (AGAP) urged the groups of transporters who will mobilize between the 13th and 15th of this month, so that their days of protest are “peaceful” and free of ideological and political motivations. .

“We call for these marches to be peaceful and framed in the respect and safety of people, in the right to free movement, respecting public and private property; leaving aside political and ideological motivations, without affecting the normal development of the APEC Forum and the image of our country as host of said international meeting,” says part of the AGAP statement.

For his part, the president of Transportes Unidos, Édgar Vitor, told Peru21 that their union, as well as Asotrani and the National Association of Transporters, confirm that the strike called for the 13th, 14th and 15th will take place “in any case.”

On the other hand, the National Unitary Coordinator of Struggle (CNUL), Fenatep and the National People’s Assembly (ANP) – in which Verónika Mendoza’s Nuevo Perú is a part – insist on getting on the bandwagon of the mobilizations to politicize them.

The CNUL, from its social networks, has called on citizens to join the protests through 43 WhatsApp groups that they have organized by districts in the capital.
