Prosecutor Saab rejects Interpol’s refusal to activate a red alert against Edmundo González

Public Prosecutor's Office reports 1,062 arrests in post-election protests

Tarek William Saab, Attorney General of the Republic, denied that there are children detained in Venezuela after the protests of July 29 and August 1 rejecting the results of the National Electoral Council (CNE) in which Nicolás Maduro was named winner of the presidential elections. “Here no child of 8, 10 or 12 years old has been convicted of violent actions,” he said.

He fiscal General, Tarek William Saab, rejected Interpol’s refusal to activate a red alert against the presidential candidate of the Unitary Platform, Edmundo González Urrutia, who is in exile in Spain.

This November 11, during a speech to the media, Saab described it as unethical for Interpol to try to make the “violent acts” that occurred in Venezuela after the presidential elections of July 28, seen as a “political issue.”

Tarek William Saab assured that there are no children detained in the country after the protests of July 29 and August 1 in rejection of the results of the National Electoral Council (CNE) in which Nicolás Maduro was named winner of the presidential elections.

“In Venezuela there are no detained children, there are teenagers who have unfortunately confessed that they were used to cause acts of violence,” the official said on November 11. He added that “here no child of 8, 10 or 12 years old has been convicted of violent actions, but instead of carrying out this type of propaganda and dirty war, they do not do it either in Israel or in the United Kingdom,” he declared.

During a speech to the media, he asserted that all citizens behind bars committed crimes. On the other hand, he indicated that so far there has been no complaint linking those murdered with police forces or any agent of the State.

«If there is, we document it, investigate it and sanction it. “This reveals that they were violent civil groups paid to search for embryos of civil war,” he added.

He reported that the MP has carried out 1,192 investigations into the events in Venezuela after the presidential election. “Luckily, in a day and a half this attempt to set the country on fire had been appeased,” he said.
