“Ukraine needs action and not just beautiful words”

“Ukraine needs action and not just beautiful words”

Andrés Trociuk, honorary consul of Ukraine in Paraguay, told 1200 AM Radio Libre that the Russian invasion had been scheduled for a long time. So the diplomatic talks of the last few weeks were thrown in the trash.

He stated that Ukraine suffered two revolutions due to the installation of pro-Russian governments. So, after the last one in 2014, the Russians took advantage of the political instability to take Crimea. In addition to financing the separatist republics of Donetsk and Lugansk in recent years. Even collaborating with a formal army without a flag.

“By recognizing the independences, the only thing they confirmed was that they participated in the events. What Putin wants to install is a related government like Belarus has with Lukashenko (Aleksandr). But it will not be easy. Ukraine cannot resist such a violent invasion, moreover, on all fronts, including the Belarusian one. Fighting is taking place in every city,” he commented.

NO REAL HELP

Volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine, stated on Thursday night that his country is alone, that they do not want them in NATO (Alliance of Europe and North America) and that no one will fight for them. “I am grateful to all countries that provide real help, and not just moral support,” he said in an official speech.

In this regard, the interviewee stated that there is a great comparison to this situation with Nazi Germany in 1939. At that time, Adolf Hitler considered that all German-speaking nations in Europe should belong to Germany. For example, Austria, Czechoslovakia and others.

“Neville Chamberlain (former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom), spoke of peace and approved concessions for Nazi Germany with the aim that they will stop demanding. But the concessions were increasing and came to take even all of Czechoslovakia. The world did not intervene, they continued to take other regions until they took Poland and World War II was declared there, ”he recalled.

Trociuk points out that Putin is doing the same thing with Georgia, Moldova and now with Ukraine, but the world is silent.

“Beautiful words and endorsements are spoken, but we need action. It is impossible to sustain such an army. Another thing is that the people accept. The Ukrainian resistance will not stop there and the carnage will increase”, he commented.

The Russian army is comprised of 190 thousand men. Trociuk noted that international sanctions will make some dent in Russia but they will not be enough. He pointed out that something similar happened in 2014 but they did not give great results.

It also highlights that the only sanction that could make a dent is Russia’s exclusion from the Worldwide Interbank Society for Financial Communications (SWIFT). However, this is unfeasible since many countries will oppose the millionaire agreements they have with the Russians.

“They want to negotiate, but what negotiations are we going to talk about with Putin? The Ukrainian people want to belong to Europe, not to Russia. No one knows what Russia’s purposes are. The people will not tolerate. It is uncertain what is going to happen,” she noted.

He finally said that it is ruled out that the argument for the attack is Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

“Putin’s popularity has fallen to 30% and he believes that with this adventure it will increase. There were 2000 prisoners for demonstrating. We know that the Russian people do not want war, we are practically relatives. There are too many family ties. The only difference is that we want to be part of Europe”, he concluded.

In our country there are about 20 thousand descendants of Ukrainians. Most of it in the south of Itapúa.
