The Minister of Culture, Alexander Salasassured that the Government cannot make decisions about dismissals or programming on TVPerú, after the former host of the program “Cara a cara” of the State channel, Enrique Chávez, pointed out that his departure was untimely.
“The state channel has a board of directors, an executive presidency, board members who make decisions with autonomy. Neither the Minister of Culture, nor the Premier nor the President can make decisions in the IRTP. They are board decisions.”he told the press this Friday.
Enrique Chávez, during the last broadcast of the program he hosted on TVPerú, assured that he was fired in an untimely manner. “We have reached this other situation where plurality does not seem to be the flag,” he warned.
In response, the National Institute of Radio and Television (IRTP) denied that this was an “untimely dismissal”, but rather a non-renewal of his service order that ended on February 28.
“His departure from TVPerú took place within the framework of the culmination of a service order agreed with the journalist, the same one that had a deadline of February 28 of this year. Today, the Press Office informed him that, in the framework of a restructuring in the programming, his service order would not be renewed “it reads in the text.
Alejandro Salas highlighted the position of the IRTP on the dismissal of journalists from TVPerú. “IRTP has spokespersons. We cannot respond because they are autonomous decisions that are made through the executive presidency of the IRTP”he concluded.

At another time, the Minister of Culture assured that “it is not correct” the statement made by the until now Secretary of Social Communication of the PCM, Ximena Pinto, about an attempt by the Prime Minister, Aníbal Torres, to direct the hiring of state advertising for political purposes.
“It is becoming a practice in our country that every trusted official who resigns files his complaint. I think you have to take it with analysis, not just the complaint of one part, you have to know how to listen “commented.
