The Navy carries out an operation to recover land in Punta Rucia

La Armada realiza operativo para recuperar terrenos en Punta Rucia

Santo Domingo.-The Dominican Republic Navy (ARD)carried out several operations in the Punta Rucia town, in Luperón, Puerto Plata, with the aim of recovering illegally occupied land in the beach area.

Members of the National Environmental Protection Service (Senpa) participated in the operations, according to a statement sent by the Navy.

The operation also had the participation of the Central Directorate of Tourism Police (Politur) of Puerto Plata and other entities committed to the defense of the natural environment.

“As a result, approximately 1,500 meters of wire fences, storm nets and irregular structures that prevented free movement and enjoyment of the beach were removed, thus promoting a safe and accessible space for all citizens,” the military entity reported.

He adds that “this action, framed in the regulations that protect the 60-meter strip from the high tide line, responds to the need to guarantee free access to the beaches and protect the integrity of the coastline, in accordance with the provisions of the Law 305-68.
