Butchers stop strike and wait for meeting with the Government this Tuesday

The national and indefinite strike that the butchers of the country were to start this Monday was suspended.

Santiago Aguilar national executive secretary of the National Confederation of Meat Workers of Bolivia (Contracabol), indicated that The measure was suspended pending a meeting with authorities of the Ministries of Productive Development and Rural Development and Lands.

Aguilera specified that there will be a fourth intermission, since November 12 were invited to a meeting in which Néstor Huanca will participate, Minister of Productive Development and Juan Yamil Flores, Minister of Rural Development and Lands.

The leader stated that the discomfort in the sector is because So far the Government has not been able to fulfill its commitment to lower the price of the kilo hookthe main demand of butchers.

“Unfortunately, we carried out a national expansion in which the central government promised to lower prices. Where a national ceiling per kilo of beef had to be maintained at Bs 22 and Bs 24.5, set in the cities of La Paz, Oruro, Potosí and Chuquisaca. But the Government did not comply. Well, in these cities the kilo is sold at Bs 34 and Bs 35 per hook kilo.”Aguilera explained.

He stressed that in the event that there is no satisfactory response on Tuesday, From Wednesday there will be an indefinite strike with a shortage of meat “in all markets in the country.”
