Yamandú Orsi, presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio, spoke this Friday in Canelones about the next debate he will hold with Álvaro Delgado, candidate of the Republican Coalition, on Sunday, November 17.

Orsi believes that the debate will be decisive and assures that the population is eager to see it. When Underlined asked him if he would adopt an aggressive attitude, Orsi responded that people are tired of it. “The population is waiting for clear solutions to the problems they face,” he emphasized. He added that the expectation is to reach agreements on two or three issues to move forward together.

Orsi highlighted the respect that characterizes Uruguay, and advocated for a debate where everyone can express their ideas, allowing people to concentrate on the content and not the spectacle. “A debate should never become a show,” he commented.

The debate will consist of five blocks that will address important issues for the country, as announced by Alejandro Sánchez, Orsi’s campaign manager, on Tuesday after meeting in Parliament with Nicolás Martínez, Delgado’s advisor.

The debate required by law

Among the topics to be discussed will include economy, security, education, production and health, and will take place starting at 9 p.m. in Studio 9, the place where Luis Lacalle Pou and Daniel Martínez debated in 2019.

In accordance with Law 19,827, enacted on September 18, 2019, it is mandatory for presidential candidates to participate in a debate broadcast live on national radio and television, not exceeding two hours in duration and in central time.
