PAN members ask the next leader to return to the origins

In an interview with Political Expansion, PAN members pointed out the next challenges of the PAN, since in 2027 there will be elections, where the governorships of 15 states and the Chamber of Deputies will be renewed.

“We have been making a series of mistakes in the game. One of them is having closed ourselves off from society; Two, we consider it practical to not be very decisive with our ideological issues, now we have to return to our ideology. We don’t have to be ashamed of what we think. Doctrinal issues were abandoned and now we are paying for what we let happen,” said former governor of Jalisco Francisco Ramírez Acuña.

In an interview, he commented that the PAN abandoned its ideology as the defense of “life”, since he considered that the political party will never be the promoter of abortion, due, he added, to the fact that “life” must be promoted as an essence and not only since conception.

“We stopped talking about what we believe. We believe in life, we believe in the family, we believe in the free municipality to be able to transform the conditions of the community. As a party we have the commitment that we have the dignity of the person. “We abandoned everything and went to the marketing of who was the most popular,” he mentioned.

Meanwhile, the former mayor of Aguascalientes, Antonio Martín del Campo, mentioned that there is hope with the new leadership to make “the best decisions”, where citizens are listened to and, like Ramírez Acuña, said that they must return to the origins of the PAN.

He also pointed out that the PAN must arrive “strengthened” for the next elections in 2025 and 2027 to avoid losing registration.

“We cannot make mistakes. We have to launch good candidates and listen to the citizens and offer good proposals, and begin to recover the Chamber of Deputies, otherwise we are condemned to disappear as a political party; if we do not do things well,” he added.

Former presidents and former presidents such as Vicente Fox, Marco Adame, Francisco Barrio Terrazas, Carlos Medina, Patricio Patrón and Juan Carlos Romero Hicks presented a decalogue to the two contenders.

The decalogue proposes opening and facilitating membership, especially for young people; in addition to including citizens in the integration of government and advisory bodies; promote the holding of open primaries to define candidates for popularly elected positions and implement tests and confidence checks for all candidacies and lists nominated by the PAN.

They also propose creating a shadow or political cabinet attached to the CEN structure, as well as reintegrating the PAN alternative cabinet as a body that confronts, criticizes, monitors and evaluates the actions of the federal government.
