Abinader meets with Nagua community members and listens to their demands

María Trinidad Sánchez. – During his tour of the province María Trinidad Sánchez, the president Luis Abinader held a meeting with representatives of neighborhood associations and other sectors of civil society in the Nagua community, in order to listen to their needs and provide them with support that is beneficial to all.

Among the most frequent requests made by community members from the different municipalities of the demarcation are local roads and other road solutions, the intervention of rainwater and sanitary systems, the construction of aqueducts, improvement of school facilities, as well as clinics, cemeteries and homes.

In addition, they requested new irrigation canals for farmers, another fishing dock, equipment and the construction of the Nagua public market.

Solutions for rice farmers

After listening to the community members, the president referred directly to the rice growers who showed concern about the lack of labor, which is usually foreign. In that sense, the head of state recalled that there is a “crisis in Haiti and I have to maintain national security” regardless of the circumstances, which is why he proposed the creation of a plan to modernize and minimize the hiring of labor and make the more efficient work.

He also reiterated that the pledge was increased to maintain a stable price between producers and consumers and that before the end of 2024, measures will be taken so that CAFTA does not affect national rice production.

To this he added that for the period 2025-2026 the construction of the Nagua market is being evaluated for 180 million pesos and the Boba Dam number 2 to contain floods in the Las Gordas district for 150 million.

Public works

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascensión, highlighted that during the governments of President Abinader, said institution is making the most important investment in the history of the province, indicating that the work on the Sabaneta-Cruce del Caño project, the Copeyito highway, was completed. and Papayo-Saltadero Naranjito, and 26 sectors were paved. He also indicated that the Rincón de Molenillo-Las Garzas highway is under construction.

To date, he stated that the investment is around 7 billion pesos, where they also have the Malecón de Nagua in progress; the local road from the Río San Juan – San Rafael crossing; the Arroyo al Medio-El Yayal-Río Jagua road section; the local roads of Caya Clara, Loma de las Abejas, among others in the municipality of Cabrera and the reconstruction of the El Papayo road.

Also, he highlighted that 29 kilometers of sidewalks and curbs have been built for around 90 million, and more than 223 thousand square meters of asphalt impacting 26 sectors, for around 500 million.

Solutions in agriculture

For his part, the Minister of Agriculture Limber Cruz recalled that the Agricultural Bank has lent 800 million to coconut trees alone and they have donated some 26 thousand coconut seedlings; He also highlighted that 7,792 beneficiaries have been financed with 6 billion; and that they have prepared 79,489 pieces of land for agriculture and some 133 kilometers of local roads free of charge.

He added that more than 200 million have been provided in support of producers affected by atmospheric phenomena; that some 98 million have been compensated to pig producers affected by swine fever; and held 185 farmers’ markets, 246 mobile warehouses, and benefited more than 259 thousand people with the fixed markets and more than 100 thousand with the mobile markets.
