The Forest Business Meeting to promote forest products will be held in Guarayos

Due to its importance for forestry development in Bolivia, the capital of wood, Guarayos provincewill be the scene of the 2024 Forestry Business Meeting.

The event will take place on Saturday, November 30 in the municipality of Ascensión de Guarayos, within the framework of the XIX National Pineapple Fair.

The organizers indicated that the initiative seeks to bring together key actors in the forestry sector, such as community forestry organizations, entrepreneurs, sawmills, artisans, carpenters, and producers of pineapple, cusi, açaí and other forest products; as well as machinery suppliers and financial institutions.

The meeting is also an opportunity to strengthen business relationships and establish strategic alliances, enhancing the value of forest products in a province that is committed to sustainable development.

Pablo Eddie Guaristi, Mayor of Ascensión de Guarayos, highlighted the importance of this event for the economic and sustainable growth of the region.

“This meeting will allow us to show the potential of our resources and strengthen collaboration between the different actors in the forestry sector. In Guarayos, we see this space as an engine of sustainable development for our province,” he highlighted.

The Forest Business Meeting is promoted by the Municipal Autonomous Government of Ascensión de Guarayos, Forestry Chamber of Bolivia, Bionegocios Guarayos and the IBIF, with the support of Tropenbos International, IDB Lab, the Embassy of Sweden and the European Union, through the EU-Sweden Environmental Platform.

Nataly Ascarrunz, executive director of IBIF, emphasized the importance and participation of the indigenous communities of the TCO Guarayos in the meeting that will contribute to their development.

“We focus on support Community Forestry Organizations so that they can integrate into sustainable value chains. We consider that these types of meetings contribute to a fairer and more environmentally friendly economy, valuing the forest for its conservation and avoiding changes in land use,” said Ascarrunz.
