Government confirms arrival of fuel from Arica and hopes there will be "zero rows" until monday

The Government guarantees that the supply of fuel will begin regularize this weekend with the arrival of fuel from Arica, Chile, and hopes that until Monday the lines disappear at the pumps

The head of Bolivian Fiscal Petroleum Deposits (YPFB), Armin Dorgathen, confirmed from the Port of Arica that this afternoon, at 3:00 p.m., the unloading of a first gasoline ship begins, which will be immediately transported to Bolivia to alleviate the problem of shortage, and tomorrow, another ship will be unloaded, with diesel.

“The capacity of each of these tanks is 40 million literswhich will be distributed throughout the national territory,” said Dorgathen.

He added that on Friday the volume of gasoline to Santa Cruz was increased with more than 2,800,000 liters “because of the demand I know there is, to reduce the lines.” Saturday and Sunday we already have greater volume and Monday we must have practically zero lines”he added.

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Marcelo Montenegro, had already anticipated that the fuel supply It will begin to be regularized with the arrival of fuel from Arica.

​Meanwhile, at the pumps, the long lines for fuel continue. The shortage has generated uncertainty and inconvenience to the population who must wait for hours to fill up with gasoline and diesel. The situation not only affects transportation, but also to citizens who need to mobilize in their daily lives.

This Saturday, the lines continued at different pumps, waiting for the arrival of fuel, and in some places only cones were seen that made knowing that there was no gasoline available. On Friday, many drivers spent the night in lines, while others were lucky to get supplies after a few hours of waiting.

María Durán, for example, spent two hours in line at the pump. Paraguá avenue and third ring, where the queue extended to Mutualist avenueto. Finally, after days of searching at other pumps, he managed to fill his gas tank.
