Maduro: I know of nervous people trying to get to Trump so he can attack us

The President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, considered it prudent to wait for the elected president of the United States (USA), Donald Trump, to define his position regarding Venezuela.

After the Republican victory In the US presidential elections, Maduro commented that he knows of “many nervous people trying to get to Trump so he can attack us.”

That is why he asked for “calm and sanity, nerves of steel (…), and what I always tell the people of Venezuela: ‘let’s not expect anything but from ourselves.’”

“Venezuela will be great because of our efforts. Whatever President Trump does,” he stressed this Friday in statements to the mediaFollowing the inauguration of the Eastern 2024 National Games.

Elections in Venezuela

Maduro highlighted the debate process within the National Assembly to renew the country’s electoral laws that will be the basis for the Legislative and Regional elections of next 2025.

“If you ask me what needs to be done in 2025, I tell you that we better wait,” he commented in response to questions from journalists and added that it seems that the best proposal “is to go to a separate election: first mayors, then governors and then the Parliament, but that is my opinion. The truth is that in 2025 the electoral party continues in Venezuela,” he stressed.

“The reforms will strengthen the institutional bases so that the country continues to advance in the electoral processes autonomously, without anyone sticking their nose into Venezuela,” he emphasized.
