APEC 2024: The presidents and authorities who will arrive in Peru for the international forum

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) 2024which will take place from November 10 to 16, will bring together leaders of some of the most influential economies in the Asia-Pacific region. The chancellor Elmer Schialer confirmed the attendance of 19 authorities, including 16 leaders. According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the event will address relevant issues for development and integration in the region.

Among the confirmed authorities There are the presidents and prime ministers of economies such as China, the United States, Vietnam, South Korea and Singapore, who will also make official visits to Peru. Below is a list of the main leaders and authorities who have already confirmed their participation in the APEC Economic Leaders Week 2024.

Who is coming to APEC 2024?

  1. China – President Xi Jinping: He confirmed his attendance at the APEC summit and will make a state visit. China is Peru’s main trading partner, with a significant exchange in exports and imports and will arrive in the country on November 14.
  2. USA – President Joe Biden: Confirmed by the White House, Biden will attend the APEC summit in Peru, as well as to the G20 summit in Brazil.
  3. Vietnam – President To Lam: He will participate in the summit and make an official visit to Peru, within the framework of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both countries.
  4. Brunei Darussalam – Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah: He will also attend and carry out his state visit to Peru on November 12, as confirmed by the Foreign Ministry.
  5. South Korea – President Yoon Suk-yeol: He will join the summit and lead his country’s delegation. Korea will host APEC in 2025, based in the city of Gyeongju.
  6. Malaysia – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim: Will visit Peru for Economic Leaders Week and make an official visit.
  7. Singapore – Prime Minister Lawrence Wong: Confirmed his participation in the APEC summit, according to an announcement made at the United Nations General Assembly.

Xi Jinping will arrive in Peru on November 14: Foreign Ministry confirms visit of the president of China

The Foreign Ministry of Peru, through an official statement, reported that the President of China, Xi Jinping, It will arrive in the country on November 14. During his visit, together with President Dina Boluarte, he will carry out the virtual inauguration of the mega port of Chancay from the Palace of Government, for security reasons, as had been previously announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement also mentions that Presidents Dina Boluarte Zegarra and Xi Jinping will review the extensive bilateral agenda, agree on measures to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between both nations and proceed with the inauguration of the megaport of Chancay.

President of the United States, Joe Biden, confirms that he will arrive in Peru for APEC 2024

At the press conference, White House press secretary Kerine Jean-Pierre announced that the president of the United States, Joe Biden will be present at the summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) in Peru and at the G20 summit in Brazil, both scheduled for November 2024.

“He is planning to participate in both conferences. He will go to Peru and Brazil to participate in these two summits (APEC and G20),” the White House press stated, while adding that there will be more news More on this later, but for the moment he can only confirm President Biden’s attendance.
