The parliamentarian of Alliance for Progress, Lady Camonespresented a bill before the Congress of the Republic that seeks to modify articles 108-A and 121 of the Penal Code to punish those responsible for the death of members of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) with life imprisonment.
The initiative, according to the official document, aims not only to protect the lives of police officers, but also to reinforce the fight against crime in the country.
“The purpose of this Law is to modify the Penal Code approved by Legislative Decree No. 635 to contribute to the protection of the lives of members of the National Police and strengthen their work in the fight against crime in the country,” it dictates. the job.
Camones maintained that the proposal seeks to give a firm message to crime and protect trust within the police institution, according to information from Exitosa.
The parliamentarian highlighted that the measure is necessary due to the increase in criminal acts against agents, especially during interventions in risk situations, operations and arrests of criminals.
“We want the murders of police officers that occur during interventions, in risk situations, operations against crime or in interventions in matters of citizen security or during the arrest of criminals, to be drastically sanctioned to give a clear message against crime. The increase of these criminal acts could also affect confidence within the police institution if no action is taken,” the text adds.
